Description
Summary:Jatigede dam in West Java is an under construction dam and is expected to be operating in 2014. The dam impounds Cimanuk river for the purpose of raw water supply, power generation, and irrigation. Previous research concluded that there were potential landslides at several points around the reservoir. Potential landslides were feared to be able to potentially threaten the dam safety for the landslide generated wave which can overtop the water through the dam crest. This study aims to determine the Safety Factor from the landslide potential slope and water overtopping potential on the dam crest due to landslide generated waves occurred in the reservoir. The analysis is performed on 4 landslide potential slope profiles. Slope stability analysis in obtaining Safety Factor values is applying Slope/W program, while the wave generation and propagation simulation is conducted through TsuPro 2012 Version 1.0 program (Copyright of Prof . Radianto Triatmadja). Several mitigation alternatives in regards with landslide generated waves disasters are provided in order to prevent the threat posed. Research results indicate that almost all slope profiles are in critical state, particularly when the reservoir has been filled with water. Landslide Profile 1 (Jatigede Village) and Landslide Profile 2 (Jemah Village) can generate waves which have the potential to overtop the dam crest, moreover considering waves runup factor. The height of landslide profile 1 generated waves is reaching 2.38 4.92 meter height and profile 2 with 1.33 2.49 meter. Meanwhile Landslide Profile 3 (Ciranggem Village) and Landslide Profile 4 (Paku Alam Village) generated particularly small waves (< 23.6 centimeter) and are considered to have no influence towards the dam. Some mitigation alternatives that can be recommended from this research are namely to change the slope geometry becomes gentler, excavating upper landslide material to reduce slope stress, and/or create a retaining structure for slope stabilization.
