| Summary: | Yogyakarta has its uniqueness in terms of spatial city pattern. There is an
imaginary axis extending from the North to South (Gunung Merapi � Tugu Pal Putih
� Keraton Yogyakarta � Panggung Krapyak � Laut Selatan) that forming a linier path
and connecting the physical symbols which have meaning of philosophical value.
The uniqueness of the spatial patterns that have historical value-cultural,
philosophical, and architectural Is the identity of the character and potentially so that
needs to be maintained in order not to suffer degradation due to the growth of urban
development.
In the present, occurring centralizing activities on tugu-keraton people are
more recognized this corridor as the axis of philosophical Yogyakarta. The problem
in the south corridor (Alun-alun Selatan - Panggung Krapyak) is less recognized as a
part of imaginary axis of Yogyakarta.So that it is required an arrangement that can
be reinforced the imaginary axis as a path that have philosophicaland historical value
to Yogyakarta.
This research would be emphasized on the observations of the framer of a
visual elementsthat divide into street space (floorscape, street furniture, landmark)
and street wall (buildings, landscaping, façade design).The observation method
executed by observing elementsof physical character in static way (through �views�
in a frontal/longitudinal view and �space� by pass through the corridor transversely)
and in dynamic way.The static and dynamic analysisthen readalong so as to
produce a discovery that would elaborated with philosophy concept of �sangkan
paraning dumadi� and �contextual continuity� (maintain the tradisional of Javanese
architecture), then the result are recommendation of design guideline which
enhanced the corridor as a single entity ofthe imaginary axis of Yogyakarta.
