| description | The condition of Malalayang 2nd beach region visitors are increase because
of development of Manado city as a trade center and tour destination, especially
after the Manado city become a place of world ocean conference and coral
triangle initiative summit event be held. So that, the local government in the
regional layout plan (RTRW/ Rencana Tata Ruang Wilayah) of Manado city
2006-2016 has a development plan at Malalayang 2nd beach become a city beach
recreational tourism region. Some development of Malalayang 2nd beach region
has implemented, such as expansion structuring of commercial market that
unstructured by build the wall on the waterfront. But, the development has not
solved the problems on the region as a whole and the way of developing just focus
on the commercial function not on public space function. So that the government
need new way ans new development on the region that appropriate with the
government�s plan to develop it into acity beach recreational tourism region.
The approach that taken is by using place making theory, where a place
making is a process of changing a space to the place. Space that had not has
appropriate function and strong character. In this research case, Manado
Malalayang beach considered as a space that will be developed into a place which
has an appropriate function, the appropriate function is beach recreation areas.
And also have a strong character that is waterfront character, the form elements of
place are activity, form and image. So that the variables that used are activity that
occur in the region which direct on the function aspect as a beach recreation areas,
and also form and image that is supporting factors and waterfront character
reinforcement.
Analysis methods that used is qualitative rationalistic methods by identify
variable points and indicator on the research areas suitable with
observationscondition. After that data process and analyzed based on related
theories.
The analysis results are place-waterfront condition, place character
reinforcement, and arrange concept as a new development directive and also
recommendation suggestion about design arrangement. |
