| Summary: | The area of Laweyan Batik Village is batik commercial area that serves as
it�s main product. Several roads in the village has a narrow width of the street so
that visitors can walk to visit the batik industries. To help visitors to have no
difficulty in finding the location of the batik industry coming into the walkway,
there are local residents who offer escort services. However, not all people use
that services. It is proved that there are several locations that have the purpose of
the low legibility street space. Legibility of space on the street in this area is one
of the important things to visitors of Laweyan Batik Village.
There are several theories related to the legibility of the street space. In
addition to land use around the hall way, urban elements such as street furniture
areas, signage, vegetation, and activity support is also a shaper legibility of the
street space. Calculations with depthmap software that uses the theory of space
syntax can be one way to determine the legibility of the street space.
This study aimed to determine the legibility of street space in Laweyan
Batik Village area and regional dominance elements in it, by looking at the
phenomenon exists. The author also receipts questionnaire to the visitors, and
depthmap software to match the precision of the result research.
Laweyan Batik Village is a historical district which is the home of the
oldest batik in Indonesia . Therefore, the potential to be the object of the visit is
quite large. Streets in this area are divided into three classes, namely kampung
street, rukunan street and setapak street.
Analysis of the legibility of the street space in Laweyan Batik Village
Region is based on research conducted in the field with the help of questionnaires,
and by involving software depthmap to obtain accurate results.
Based on the research, there is a relationship between elements of the
region with the imageability of the road space. These results are also associated
with the analysis of the integration, connectivity, and visibility by depthmap. By
knowing the street space has a low legibility values, the obtained recommendation
to remind legibility street space.
