| Summary: | In the process of spatial planning in an area, the needs for data and information, both spatial and non-spatial are a very important thing. To meet the needs of spatial data and information, the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology is indispensable. With its ability: inputing data, storing, managing, analyzing, re-enabling, and presenting geographic data easily and quickly, then the SIG is the right choice for use as a computer-based tool in the development of spatial region. This research aimed to describe the extent to which GIS tools used in the development of RTRWP Aceh 2012-2032, to measure the effectiveness of the use the application and finally to describe the factors that influence the effectiveness of the use of GIS tools in the development of RTRWP Aceh 2012-2032.
This research was conducted through a deductive-qualitative approach with descriptive evaluative method. The data were obtained by interview and questionnaires to the Aceh Government officials and other parties associated with the development of RTRWP Aceh 2012-2032. Theserespondent were assumed to understand a little more about GIS management activities.
The research found that is overall, the use of GIS tools in the development of RTRWP Aceh 2012-2032 can be categorized as effective enough because it is almost all of the important analysis of spatial planning has been done using GIS application. A large number of agencies in the scope of the Aceh Government were not yet maximized in utilizing capabilities of GIS tools in the development of RTRWP Aceh 2012-2032. It was limitation of GIS tools utilization only for input data and mapping. Small numbers of institutions have made usage of the ability of GIS in the analysis phase. Several factors that influenced the effectiveness of the use of GIS tools in the development of RTRWP Aceh 2012-2032 were human resources, equipment, information, working conditions, attitudes of staff, communication and coordination, and management of working.
