description Background: Anemia is a micronutrient deficiency most commonly suffered by many women. The prevalence of anemia among girls in Indonesia is around 57.1%. Menstruation process can lead to potential female reproductive health issues. The prevalence of women aged 15-24 years in Indonesia having problems of irregular menstrual cycle is by 26.1%. Bleeding related to menstrual cycle can cause anemia which will endanger the safety of womens life and, vice versa, the incidence of anemia in women can lead to abnormal menstrual cycle which can not only reduce the quality of life but also bring death. Objective: To determine the effects of anemia on the menstrual cycle in students of Banjarbaru Midwifery Academy (AKBID Banjarbaru). Methods: This was an observational study with a cross sectional design. Subjects were all female students at AKBID Banjarbaru. Sampling technique used total sampling that a total of 248 students of AKBID Banjarbaru became the samples. The variables in this study consisted of the independent variable which was anemia, the dependent variable which was menstrual cycle, and the extraneous variables which were body weight, physical activity, stress, diet and age when menarche. Data analysis consisted of univariable analysis, bivariable analysis using chi-square test and multivariable analysis using logistic regression test. Results: There was a significant association between anemia and menstrual cycle in the students of AKBID Banjarbaru (2 = 41.21, p = 0.000
