Description
Summary:Gamelan is a musical ensemble typical of Indonesia, especially in Bali and Java, the difference was in tone and distinctive characteristics when playing gamelan. Utilization of Balinese gamelan, especially in today covers all aspects, such as education, government, cultural, economic, social and religious. Balinese Gamelan very important role in Balinese life, then to preserve Balinese gamelan is infused with elements of Balinese gamelan Balinese gamelan especially at the elementary school curriculum in order to create some regeneration preservation of Balinese gamelan. It is set on Government Regulation No. 32 Year 2013 on National Education Standards and Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 81A in 2013 on the Implementation of the Curriculum. Dimensional bar gamelan changing ratio to 80% according to the anthropometric elementary school students so that the acoustic characteristics of the testing required to determine the effect of knowing the dimensions and acoustic similarity characteristic each gamelan, as well as determine the feasibility of a small Balinese gamelan based acoustic characteristics introduced to elementary school students. Acoustic characteristics that are important in the selection of musical instruments is speed of sound (c), the sound radiation coefficient (R), the characteristic acoustic impedance (z), damping ratio and partial ratio. The method used is ASTM E1876-01 (quantitative data) and questionnaire method (qualitative data). The results of measurements of the acoustic characteristics of a small Balinese gamelan will be compared to the acoustic characteristics of a large Balinese gamelan. The results of this study indicate that a small Balinese gamelan has acoustic characteristics similar to Balinese gamelan standard. Value similarity acoustic characteristics: speed of sound (c) 96.2%, the sound radiation coefficient (R) 95.6%, impedance (z) 96.1% and 87.6% damping ratio. Partial Balinese gamelan standard ratio have higher numbers than small Balinese gamelan that indicates the standard Balinese gamelan has a richer spectrum than the small Balinese gamelan. In addition, qualitative data based method through a listening test questionnaires to the respondents correlated with quantitative data.
