| Summary: | This research discusses about improvement of the quality of Japan's
defense both diplomatically and defense in the form of Jieitai weaponry. The
objectives of the research are to indentify the central security problems
experienced by Japan as well as analyzing the response of Japan about this
security problem.
This research is a library research with historical approach as its
framework. The first step in researching the case is done by collecting the data,
dividing them into primary and secondary data. The researcher verifying the
collected data to ensure their credibility after grouping them into two different
groups. The third step is interpretation which applies dynamic deterrence theory
as analysis tool. The last step is writing the data in historical chronology to retain
aspects of causality.
This research finds that Japan tend to be more active in the defense. The
active defense here means building anti-missile defense systems to withstand
ballistic threats from North Korea and build defense cooperation with countries in
Asia to counterbalance China's hegemony. The cooperation indirectly also reduces
the dependence of Japan against armed protection of America. |
