Description
Summary:This study describes the physical characteristics of hydroclimate in Silengkong and Lowereng subwatersheds of Kedung Bulus watershed in the areas of, Kebumen Regency, Central Java Province. The study aims at understanding the physical characteristics and hydroclimate for sub watersheds using time series analysis. Data were analyzed by applying a statistical method. The primary data were those on time series of daily rains and discharges. The physical characteristics of watershed included morphometry, i.e. the area of watershed, the network of rivers, and elevation. The daily rainfall of watershed were calculated using an arithmetic mean and a general statistical method. Classification of the existing climates were analyzed using the Schmidt-Fergusons classification method and the dryness vulnerability value by a dry month. The general statistic values include maximum value, minimum value, mean, median, mode, standard deviation (SD), coefficient of variation, and skewness, as well as the parameter of River Regime Coefficient. Results of the study show that in view of land covering, climatology, and hydrology, Silengkong subwatershed of 1.17 km 2 and Lowereng subwatershed of 8.5 km 2 have almost the same climate classification with the different land covering resulting in the different discharge. The characteristics of discharge over the year can be variable, depending on rainfall and change in land covering or the activities taking place in each of the subwatersheds. The results indicate that there was difference in the physical characteristics of hydroclimates between both subwatersheds despite in the virtually same rain areas. The results become the early information in performing the management of watershed.
