Summary:Recently, utilization of energy storage system in renewable power plant is not separable. But, because it also increases the complexity of unit commitment problem, it is necessary to develop an effective method to obtain minimum operational cost. Researches have been done using priority list method to solve this problem. Genetic algorithm is known to be able to obtain near-optimal solution of higher complexity problems. The method proposed in this paper uses genetic algorithm to solve unit commitment problem with energy storage system included. To test its effectivity, the proposed method is used in a simulation based on the test system of the previous research. The simulation result shows that there is a reduction in the total operational cost with energy storage system included. Moreover, results obtained using the proposed method proofed to be better then results obtained using the method of the previous research.
