Summary: | This study aims to determine how the process of programming policy
implemented in Eagle Awards documentary competition 2010-2012. In addition,
this study also aims to determine the real practice of television program
production, especially television with news format.
This research is qualitative research with case study method. Subjects of
this study were Metro TV as event organizer and everyone who involved in Eagle
Awards production. This study focus on analysis of the making of
programming policy, implementation, and evaluation in all on-air and of air
activity of Eagle awards. Data for this research obtained from observation and in-
depth interviews.
Results from this research shows: (1) Metro TV made Eagle Awards as
documentary competition based on their character and image as news channel, (2)
at the first, Eagle Awards was made with an idealism as a space for documentary
genre and supported documentary education for young filmmaker. But, the
idealism faded because of comercial needed. (3) now, Metro TV using Eagle
Awards for publicity purposes.
