are fluorescent lamp, television, computer, air conditioner, charger, and other
digital devices. These technology use rectifier circuit, so it causes current for not
flowing in pure sinusoidal form anymore. In this case, accuracy and accountably
energy measurement is being important.
International standard for energy meter is regulated in IEC 62053. The
standard explains the error limit must be less than 1% when meter is measuring
5% of rated current. And there are other strict regulations in IEC 62053.
The proposed design system of energy meter on this assignment uses
MCP3901 as an analog to digital converter, shunt resistor as current sensor, and
digital filter as noise suppressor. Then the design is verified and tested whether it
answers standard IEC62053 or not. The result of tests says that the proposed
energy meter design satisfy electrical requirements and accuracy requirements of
IEC62053. |
