Summary: | The Existence of public facilities at Gadjah Mada University such as hospitals, banks,
mosque and Kaliurang street which devide the campus areas into two parts make the
volume of motor vehicles increases especially at peak hour. In realizing the vision and
physical development direction of Gadjah Mada University on based educopolis, need to
facilities development which give the priority for pedestrians and cyclists. The research
purpose is to know about movement, volume, and route of pedestrians/cyclists and also
planned the development facilities for that modes users in Gadjah Mada University to
realize an educopolis college.
The resources of the data are from the traffic counting in gate/way out of Gadjah Mada
University and the distribution of questionnaire at 18 faculties in Gadjah Mada University
by sampling method namely simple cluster sampling. The sum of the sample is 218
respondents with the margin error 7%. The method to analysis pedestrians lane is method
from Directorate General of Highways whereas the method to analysis bike lane is
method from Guide for The Development of Bicycle Facility, American Association of
State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
The result shows that the dominant movement system outside Gadjah Mada University is
from residences to Gadjah Mada University with sum of pedestrian is 58 respondents and
cyclist is 53 respondents. The highest pedestrians and cyclists volume in Gadjah Mada
University is 6,07p/min at Agro street. The development width of pedestrian lane and
bike lane based on the analysis is 1,6 m and bike lane is 1,2 m.
