| Summary: | Merantau tradition, until now the term is always attached to the residents of western
Sumatra Minangkabau . Is a form of tradition left their homeland to seek a better life outside
of West Sumatra . In the past people's motivation in doing Merantau tradition is still limited
to businesses looking for a decent life in other areas for short term trade , but as the
development time of their motivations increasingly diverse , ranging from trade , looking for
a better education , work in the formal sector and non - formal . In Yogyakarta immigrants -
emigrants from West Sumatra itself is quite a lot and almost evenly distributed throughout the
central region of Yogyakarta to the corner of the territory though. To maintain their ethnic
existence in the overseas territories , some of them have formed a social organization or
known as the Community. Community of �Sulit Air Sepakat� or abbreviated \" SAS \" is one
of the many ethnic Minangkabau community located in the Yogyakarta area .
Based on the reality of this research then surely want to answer the question , What is
the role of social Community �Sulit Air Sepakat� Social Institutions in order to develop the
community of origin immigrants �Nagari Sulit Air� West Sumatra in Yogyakarta. By using
descriptive qualitative research methods expected results of this study can provide an
overview of the phenomenon in the field as a whole or Holistic . This study took place in the
house in the Wisma Gunung Merah region of Yogyakarta , precisely in Urip Sumoharjo No.
51 kecamatan Gondokusuman.
The results of this researh generally explained that the role of community �Sulit Air
Sepakat� is a form of business in the �Sulit Air� to unite all citizens residing in the colony ,
keeping the integrity of �Sulit Air� nomads society and also as a social control \" social
control \". This is embodied by providing a space , time and place to get together and also
some community social activities such as : social gathering , study , family gathering , as well
as efforts in the economic welfare of the community through cooperative activities . Aside
from the Society of �Sulit Air� Agreed also have goals and aspirations that very noble , ie
towards Jaya 's �Sulit Air� build up in the soil in the sense Overseas ( region of origin ) and
also in the overseas .
The establishment of the Community of �Sulit Air Sepakat�, especially in the area of
Yogyakarta have been quite a lot to help people nomads in improving the sense of solidarity
among citizens . It can be seen from the high level of citizen participation in following
routine activities in agenda by the community itself. However, if viewed from the programs
and policies in flats are still many who have not been carried out optimally , according to the
author it is somewhat regrettable given that �Sulit Air Sepakat� Community in Yogyakarta
has plenty of good human resources with the level of intelligence that high and graduates
who are almost in all disciplines . Somewhat regrettable if the programs run more
monotonous and there is no significant progress .
