सारांश: | The representation in the movie about a particular ethnic is something
interesting to be studied more deeply. The author raised the title Arab descent in
Indonesian movie as research material. Movie of 3 Hati, 2 Dunia, 1 Cinta
directed by Beni Setiawan been the objective of research because it conveys a
theme that is closely related to ethnicity is Arab descent in Jakarta. Formulation
of the problem in this movie is how the figure of Arab descent represented in the
movie of 3 Hati, 2 Dunia, 1 Cinta and how its relevance to the realities that exist
in society. This study aims to determine the representations of Arab descent in the
movie of 3 Hati, 2 Dunia, 1 Cinta to find out what are the myths and symbols
embedded in Arab descent in Jakarta . This research is expected to provide a new
perspective in capturing the message in a movie.
This study is a qualitative study using semiotic methods. The researcher
uses the basis Barthes semiotic theory for the research because it is suitable to
analyze the movie. This is because the film is also a cultural product that has its
own structure or order as in language. Literature review that�s been used is film
theory and semotic, Dynamics of Arab descent in Indonesia, as well as the Arab
descendants in Indonesian cinema and Barthes' semiotic theory. The unit of
analysis is the plot, scenes, and dialogue that have relevance to the formulation of
the problem . The primary data derived from digital files movie of 3 Hati, 2
Dunia, 1 Cinta while secondary data was obtained from the literature study
articles, books, and Internet resources. The analysis was performed by classifying
the data and then interpreting it. From the analysis and interpretation of which
has been conducted, researcher found that in the movie of 3 Hati, 2 Dunia, 1
Cinta figure represented the stereotype of Arab descent physical features, culture,
beliefs, language, clothing, kinship systems, and livelihoods.
