Summary: | A study has been performed in Plat Target Design for
Mo Production with
Low Enriched Uranium.
The research was performed by using the Monte Carlo
method in doing criticality calculations of RSG-GAS and radioisotope activity
99
Mo irradiated. Parameters that were analyzed were core criticality and activity
of radioisotopes produced. The materials used were a model of RSG-GAS porch
and a plate target with meat U3Si2-Al and cladding with AlMg2 material. Initial
value of keff RSG-GAS before irradiation was 1.00721 with a standard deviation
was 0.00241.
235
Optimation designs by varying the thickness of the plate target, enrichment
of U as target meat, irradiation time and the position in RSG-GAS. Variations
of thickness were 0.9 mm, 1 mm, and 1.1 mm. Variations enrichment were
19.75%, 15%, 10%, 5%, and 0.7%. Calculation was performed by Burn-up to the
target. From the calculation indicated that the optimal design thickness was 1 mm,
19.75% enrichment and the irradiation time was 5 days. Ideal position to do the
irradiation of plate target was the IP position. The design produced yield
radioisotopes of
99
Mo was 245.1 Ci and keff of RSG-GAS was 1.01022.
