Summary: | The objective of this research was to determine the response of six rice varieties to
field population of the rice brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens. The experiment
employed a completely randomized design with six rice varieties as treatments (Situ
Bagendit, IR 64, Inpari 13, Ciherang, Conde, dan Mekongga) and each was replicated three
times. The population of N. lugens and its predator was observed regularly starting on the
15th day after planting with an interval of seven days. If ANOVA showed differences,
mean significant differences were tested using DMRT. The population of N. lugens during
the whole rice season in general was considered very low. Therefore, differences among six
varieties in response to N. lugens was not prominent. The highest population of N. lugens
was found in Mekongga (6 N. lugens/hill) and the lowest population was in Inpari 13 ( 3 N.
lugens/hill). Similar to N. lugens the populations of Pardosa pseodoanulata was highest in
Mekongga. |
