.... In the reactor, raw materials react with air to produce terephtalic acid, with cobalt
acetate as catalyst and acetic acid as solvent. The products from reactor, go into
crystallizer to obtain more products that still dissolved in liquid. Then, products
go into purification units to conform the specification of the desired products.
To produce terephtalic acid with 99% purity as much as 50,000 tons/year,
needs 33,222 tons/year of p-xylene and 138.895 tons/year of air. Acetic acid as
solvent is needed as much as 4,343 tons/year. Cobalt acetate as catalys is needed
as much as 455 tons/year. Utilities which are needed include 300,697.65 tons
year of treated water, 7,582.62 m3/year of No. 4 fuel oil, 121,116 tons/year of
steam, 396,000 m3 of compressed air, and electricity generated at 2,490 kW. The
plant is planned to be established in the area of Cilacap, Central Java on the land
area of 100,000 m2 including the mess for employees and plans of regional
expansion process. Employees are needed as much as 153 people.
Based on the criteria, the plant is considered low risk. The fixed capital
for the plant is as much as $ 10,356,465 + Rp 102,559,520,921 and the working
capital as much as Rp 150,101,970,079. While the total production cost is as
much as Rp 539,147,555,977. The profit before annual tax is Rp 56,602,944,023
and the profit after tax is Rp 28,301,472,011. The results of the economic analysis
showed that the Return on Investment (ROI) before tax is 27.90%
