Summary:In the pyrolisis process, heat ramp rate, temperature, and process time are very important variables so the control monitor system of heat ramp rate and temperature is needed in order to make a desired product. Initially pyrolisis device was manually controlled, that the change of temperature was set directly by user and the trend of temperature cannot be monitored. The device show the latest temperature value. In this project, the control and monitor system for furnace/ heating room will be designed, which use heating element as correction element and K type thermocouple as measurement element. As a requirement, the temperature of thermocouple terminal will be sensed by LM35. Instrumentation amplifier and voltage to pulse frequency modul is used as signal conditioner. Pulse will be counted by microcontroller proportionally with the increase of temperature. LabView 8.2 PC software is used as control element. This project produce the control and monitor system that is able to control automatically, with the purpose to ease the observation of pyrolisis process at the laboratory of polymer technology of Chemical Engineering Gadjah Mada University. In this system, PC was used as interface between user and machine that provided with measured parameter graphic and indicators.
