Summary: | Genuk kemiri is one form of the oral literature in regency of Pati, Central Java
which contain myth and pilgrimage. This research is done as an effort to
understand genuk kemiri myth in regency of Pati in relation the function of myth
for Pati society. This research uses Lévi-Strauss structural analysis which asses
the myth by focusing on the narative structure and etnographic data which related
to collective contex in genuk kemiri.
Data are colected by doing interviews and library research. Data are proceed by
reconstructing genuk kemiri strory. Then, the result of genuk kemiri
reconstruction are divided into units of stories to find mythéme. This mythéme
used to find surface structure and deep structure of myth.
The result of analysis on genuk kemiri using Lévi-Strauss structuralism theory,
found that genuk kemiri is considered as something important in element of daily
life of Pati society because this myth contains about uniting region. Other than
that, genuk kemiri also contains kinship which regulates marriage pattern which
is called prohibition of incest.
