Summary: | DI Yogyakarta sewerage system was designed to treat domestic
wastewater in Sewon WWTP. With capacity of 15.500 m

/day, Sewon WWTP
is planned to serve 18.400 House Connections (HCs). Based on 2012 data,
during certain months, the incoming wastewater flow excedd 15.500 m
3
/day
and even can reach up tp 26.300 m
3
/day. Improper utilization of Flushing
System Unit is predicted to be the cause of increase in hydraulic load on
WWTP and sewer system. At this moment, with only 14.922 HCs connected
to the sewerage, addition of HCs is expected, but needs carefull consideration
on wastewater flow entering the WWTP.
Software SewerCAD v8i is a software designed specifically to analyze
and design a sewerage system. This research was conducted by analyzing DI
Yogyakarta Sewer using SewerCAD v8i with several scenarios. The
secenarios are 14.922 HCs conditions without flushing, followed by 14.922
HCs scenarios with 24 hours a day flushing, the third scenario is 14.922 HCs
with a recommendation of flushing flow. The fourth and fifth scenario are the
optimization modelling by increasing the number of custumers up to 18.400
HCs. These scenario is expected to resolve the problems with existing
conditions.
The analysis indicated that the existing conditions are under utilized,
however, the incoming flow is exceeding the installed capacity of the WWTP.
It is recommended to flush the sewer with flow less than 10% of the average
capacity of the WWTP. Optimization of the existing sewer can be
implemented by adding 3.392 customers.
