Summary: | This research aims to determine the tourist attraction of Indonesian Karst
Museum area, support and inhibiting factors, and the development of Indonesian
Karst Museum area as a prime tourist attraction in Wonogiri regency.
This research is a qualitative research. The data collection techniques
through observation, indepth interviews, and literature. The presentation of
analysis is narrative and SWOT analysis. SWOT analysis used to determine the
internal condition of Indonesian Karst Museum area, they are strengths and
weaknesses, and external condition, they are opportunities and threats which
effect on Indonesian Karst Museum area development efforts. The results of this
study showed that Indonesian Karst Museum has a high tourist attraction because
it stores and display collection of karst knowledge throughout Indonesia.
Indonesian Karst Museum is supported by the potential of geotourism and sociocultural.
However, at this time, Indonesian Karst Museum area is not a prime
tourist attraction in Wonogiri Regency. The cooperation between the museum
manager and outside museum area manager is not running so Indonesian Karst
area Museum has not been able to attract tourist from outside the region.
The conclusion is Indonesian Karst Museum area needs to be developed by
combining Indonesia Karst Museum and the outside museum area to make a tour
package, increase promotion, improvement of facilities and museum collections,
optimizing cooperation in tourism development. Karst area is a susceptible area so
The tourism development must consider a concept of sustainable tourism.
