Summary:Flow between two concentric cylinders with inner cylinder rotating, also known as Taylor-Couette flow, has long been the subject of experimental and numerical investigation. The objective of present research is to analyze effect of axial flow on flow pattern and torque characteristic in Taylor-Couette flow using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method. Research set on radius ratio 0.714 and aspect ratio 10 with varying tangential Reynolds number 49 - 3144 and axial Reynolds number 8 - 63. The commercial software Fluent 6.3 was used to solve three dimensional computation domain with employing QUICK discretisation scheme and SIMPLE algorithm. Transitional flow was modeled with k � � transitional model. The results show that effect of axial flow on Taylor-Couette flow was formed flow pattern
