Summary:Background. Anemia in newborn has became the source of many disruptions in growth and development of a baby. Thus, the early prevention and detection of anemia in newborn is essential. Hopefully, with the early detection, the incidence of anemia in newborn can be suppressed as well as the bad effects of it. Objective. This study is aimed to discover the relation between maternal hemoglobin and cord blood hemoglobin in RS PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul Sleman. Method. This is a crossectional study involving 106 pairs of mothers and newborns. The sample was taken from mother�s vein during delivery and newborn�s umbilical cord right after delivered. Result. 49 from 106 mothers are anemic (Hb <12 g/dL), while 14 from 106 newborns are anemic (Hb <13.7 g/dL). Both sample are normally distributed, and Pearson�s calculation result is 0.063. Conclution. There is no correlation between mother�s hemoglobin level and newborn�s cord blood hemoglobin level.
