Summary: | Background. Anemia in newborn has became the source of
many disruptions in growth and development of a baby.
Thus, the early prevention and detection of anemia in
newborn is essential. Hopefully, with the early
detection, the incidence of anemia in newborn can be
suppressed as well as the bad effects of it.
Objective. This study is aimed to discover the relation
between maternal hemoglobin and cord blood hemoglobin
in RS PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul Sleman.
Method. This is a crossectional study involving 106
pairs of mothers and newborns. The sample was taken
from mothers vein during delivery and newborns
umbilical cord right after delivered.
Result. 49 from 106 mothers are anemic (Hb <12 g/dL),
while 14 from 106 newborns are anemic (Hb <13.7 g/dL).
Both sample are normally distributed, and Pearsons
calculation result is 0.063.
Conclution. There is no correlation between mothers
hemoglobin level and newborns cord blood hemoglobin
level. |
