Summary: | The area of hepangan agroforestry in Gumay Ulu is a forest that specifically
formed from natural process and human intervention combination. The area of hepangan
agroforestry in Gumay Ulu produce main commodity for tropical fruits. hepangan area
with the species are potentially developed for genetic conservation and for forest and land
rehabilitation with using local species. To understand to which extend the poetential,
information of structure and composition is necessary.
The study was conducted with vegetation analysis which were structure and
composition in 46 location of hepangan agroforestry. Data collected with combination of
a checkered line method measuring 20 x 60 meters. The sampling intensity was 12 %. Data
taken were plant species, diameter, height, individual number, crown wide, and individual
coordinate. The data was analyzed with species diversity index, important value index, and
structure and analysis using software of SExI-FS version 2.1.0.
Human intervention and natural process in hepangan system create a forest
with very diverse plants. Plant with tree level to seedling consists of 49 species and
22 family. Undergrowth consists of 47 species and 23 family. The number of
species is 50 % of the number of species in lowland rain forests of South Sumatra.
The level of the tree until the pole is dominated by durian (Durio zibethinus) and
can be used as a plant rehabilitation in a variety of environmental conditions. The
Simpson Model showed that hepangan has a high diversity index on pole, sapling,
and undergrowth
