to assess male fertility and not always capable to explain
the cause of infertility in men. Sperm motility is a
clinical indicator of sperm quality and fertilization
potential. Sperm DNA integrity test
is required to assess the fertility status. However, the
relationship between them is not clear yet.
Objective: This study evaluated the relationship between
sperm DNA fragmentation and sperm motility in male
infertility cases.
Methods: The study was performed using analytical
observational with cross-sectional method. Subjects were 28
men following In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) program. Routin
sperm analysis had been performed initially and continued
with DNA fragmentation testing in Permata Hati clinical
laboratory, RSUP Dr.Sardjito Yogyakarta.
Results: There was a significant relationship between sperm
DNA fragmentation and sperm motility (p=0,03). Logistic
regression analysis showed both statistically and clinically
significant association between DNA fragmentation and sperm
motility (OR 6.67 |
