Description
Summary:Background : Candida is one of the most common organisms causing fungal infections . Therapy often given is the type of azole antifungal , ketoconazole and itraconazole. The frequent use of azole antifungal types to overcome infection by Candida causing the emergence of resistance to antifungal classes. 1.10 Fenantrolin previously been studied have antibacterial activity , anticancer , and antiplasmodium . With the modification of the structure in order to obtain derived compounds Fenantrolin 3 is expected to be one way of solve the problem of infection by Candida which is resistant to earlier antifungal agents. Objectives : To determine the effect of Fenantrolin 3 on growth and development of Candida sp. Itraconazole and Ketoconazole resistant strains and determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) Methods : Descriptive-Experimental study conducted by using Microbroth Dilution test method to determine the minimum Inhibitory concentration (MIC) of Fenantrolin 3 Results : The results obtained from 9 times replication testing is MIC of 1.56 ug/ml, data obtained were determined by mode . This means Fenantrolin 3 can inhibit the growth and development of Candida Sp. ketoconazole and itraconazole resistant strains at a concentration of 1.56 ug / ml . Conclusion : Fenantrolin 3 can inhibit the growth and development of Candida Sp. ketoconazole and itraconazole resistant strains at a concentration of 1.56 ug / ml .
