Summary:Various efforts to overcome the plastic waste continues to be pursued. Efforts is by utilizing waste plastics into composite materials. Wood plastic composite which has the advantages of wood as a useful filler to increase rigidity, reduce density and cost per unit volume, while the plastic as the matrix will increase the strength and physical properties of composites are formed so impervious to water and termites. In this research, the composite material was made from sawdust sengon with recycled plastic Polypropylene types (PP) and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). The purpose of this research is the use of plastic waste from type of PP, HDPE and sawdust sengon as composite materials, knowing the physical and mechanical properties of plastic composite with a variety of materials composition, assess the potential sustainability the business of making a composite made from a mixture of plastic waste and sawdust sengon. The independent variables consist of the type of plastic and plastic powder composition, while the dependent variable consists of the physical properties (water content, density, water absorption and thickness swelling), and mechanical properties (Modulus of Rupture, Modulus of Elasticity, and Internal bond strength). This research uses a completely randomized design with a factorial arranged in a single factor , i.e. the ratio between sengon sawdust and plastic with three cedar i.e. 2:1, 1:1, and 1:2. The results obtained from this research are physical properties and Internal Bonding of composite boards accordance with JIS A 5908-2003 type of 13. MoR values for all PP plastic sample and just part of composite made from HDPE accordance with JIS A 5908-2003 type 8. Production of composite board with comparison sawdust sengon : PP plastic waste ( 2:1 ) in the study sustainability many positive value, especially economic aspect. The investment value for this composite board production enterprises will be back within a period of 10 months.
