living organisms, so it can damage the surrounding environment. Because of that,
in 1994 the Japan International Corporate Agency (JICA) has build Wastewater
Treatment Plant (WWTP),to overcome the wastewater in the province of
Yogyakarta Special Region. In accordance with initial plan to degrades Influent
BOD 332 mg / l to less than 30 mg / l (according to calculation), it takes 24 hours
/day for operation of the aerator. Data acquired in 2012 and 2013 showed an
influent BOD of less than 200 mg/l. WWTP operate aerator for 13,5 hours/day in
2012 and 18 hours/day in 2013, While according to SOP by PCI-JICA is 9
hours/day. To determine duration of operation hours is the best operating or not,
it�s necessary to analyze and testing the content of Dissolved Oxygen (DO) i n the
aeration facultative pond to get a short duration hours of operation in producing
optimum BOD quality, which is optimal BOD obtained from the highest BOD
Removal efficiencies in the pond.
Secondary data were obtained from the BALAI IPAL is flow and BOD
Quality data in 2012 and in 2013, The data is then analyzed through calculations
based on theory to calculate the short duration of operation hours in producing
optimum BOD quality on facultative aerated pond, which is optimal BOD
obtained from the highest BOD Removal efficiencies in the pond. To calculate the
efficiency of highest BOD Removal at ponds using the help of Microsoft Excel
with Program Solver facility. The results of this analysis are also supported by the
primary data on quality parameters of Dissolved Oxygen (DO) in the facultative
aerated pond through field testing to determine the oxygen content based on
duration hours of operating the aerator.
The thesis results showed that an efficiency of BOD Removal WWTP
maximum at value 91,3%. These results have optimal inlet BOD value at 160 mg/
and BOD outlet at 14 mg/l. Results of the calculation about daily hours of
operation is obtained the duration hours aerators time by 11 hours/day in
facultative aerated pond. The duration hours of operation the aerator is higher
than the SOP JICA (9 hours/day), but lower than existing conditions in 2012 (13,5
hours/day) and in 2013 (18 hours/day). |
