| Summary: | One of the ways of expressing affection in the daily life is by using appellative
toward our loved ones. Fondness appellative can be expressed not only verbally
but also written, in the form of correspondence. Appellative consists of sequence
of certain noun and adjective words between lovers. This study analyzes the
varying form of appellative and choice of word used by woman and man, with the
purpose of conveying greeting structure and comprehending the meaning of that
appellative. The data for this study is taken from books of compilation of letters
entitled �Juliette Drouet à Victor Hugo� and �Victor Hugo à Juliette Drouet�. As
a result, several structures of fondness appellative which creates deep affection are
found through this study. The nouns and adjectives used show the different
