Summary: | A monitoring of human postural balance in bipedal standing is an important
parameter in medicine, related to balance disorder. A Human Postural Balance
Monitoring System in Bipedal Standing (HPBMSBS) has been built by Unit of
Production House, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada. The problems
are the use of excessive sensors and the use of a limited processor. In order to
solve those problems, a development of HPBMSBS is needed.
A HPBMSBS consists of sensor, processor, and display. It uses a 3-axis
digital position sensor module. A Programmable System-on-Chip (PSoC) 4 and
Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 are used as the processors. A display is built in PC
and show the direction of body sway.
HPBMSBS can display directions of postural balance based on the sensors
value. A no movement position (center position) is shown by 219 < nilaiY < 221
and 240 < nilaiX < 243. Others position are shown by one or both sensors value
outside range of value for center position. Sensor value is sent through I2C
communication with 100 kbps of speed and it is sent to the PC through UART
communication with 115200 of baudrate. Sensor value is taken every 125 ms.
Based on the result, a HPBMSBS is being tested and verified.
