The purpose of this study explains how the shape of the bonsai Japanese visual symmetry that contains the concept of life and death in Buddhism. This study analyzed using descriptive analysis method that uses theories related to the concept of bonsai and the concept of life and death in Buddhism. Based on the results of this research note that the bonsai art form of bonsai in Japan contains a visual symmetry. Chokkan shape containing visual symmetry that describes the location of the man, heaven and earth. Yose Ue shape containing visual symmetry that describes the relationship between one human with another human being. Kengai shape containing visual symmetry that describes the vagaries of human life should be lived before humans experience death and be born again. Moyoubi shape containing visual symmetry that describes the process of human li fe before death. Bonsai does not only show the beauty and art of miniature plant alone, bonsai also contain Buddha's teachings on the meaning of life and death.
