Description
Summary:Turkey has been recognized as an official candidate for European Union (EU) membership since 1999, following the initial proposal in applying for European Economic Community in 1950s. Turkeys application to join EU and its predecessor institution has the longest time span in history, compared to other candidates. Turkeys accession to the EU has not only been the longest, but also had caused constellation among EU member states. In relation with Turkeys accession, Poland position makes it interesting to be explored. Poland, among the 13 newest member states of EU, is among the few who has clear elite position in Turkeys accession and also among the few who support Turkeys accession. Poland had become a notable member state in internal EU negotiation since its success in setting to the EU table and then resolving the 2004 Ukrainian Orange Revolution. Nevertheless, the absence of tremendous effort in supporting Turkeys accession has made another interesting point to be explored.
