| Summary: | Phytoplankton play an important role as primary producer in the food chain and may become an indicator for aquatic ecosystem productivity. This study aims to determine the phytoplankton community and its relationship with water quality at estuary ecosystem of Baros mangrove area. The study was conducted in June 2013 with five times sampling of phytoplankton and water. The research calculated index of abundance (N), diversity (H'), evenness (E') and dominance (D). Phytoplankton abundance at the study site ranged from 79-129 cells/liter, and dominated by Genus Synedra with an abundance of 65 cells/liter. Phytoplankton diversity ranged from 0.66 to 1.16 |
