| Summary: | This graduating paper aims at providing brief information about cultural values in
Nias, especially Fahombo Batu. Fahombo Batu is a popular attraction which has been
promoted Nias. Furthermore, I will give an explanation about the alteration of cultural
values in Fahombo Batu which has turned into attraction, and its causes.
The methods of collecting data are library researches and field observations. For
library research, I read books and articles that are related to culture and the objectives of
the research. For field observations, I conduct direct observation at some villages in Nias
such as Bawomataluo village and Hilisimaetano, and I interview practitioners of
Fahombo Batu.
There are the alteration of cultural values in Fahombo Batu such as the purpose of
practicing Fahombo Batu, the existence of Fahombo Batu, and today�s jumpers. Those
alterations are caused by two factors, internal factors and external factors. The external
factors are the development of globalization at religion, media, and educations. The
internal factors are the absence of local war in Nias, Fahombo Batu as an exercise and the
lack of attention of local government and inhabitants.
