| Summary: | This study aimed to analyze the relationship between financial sector development, escpecially banking sector, and trade openness to economic growth in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines during 1980-2012 period. This research uses a model adopted from Hassan, Sanchez, and Yu (2011). We used a panel data analysis with five ASEAN member country and annual time series data form 1980-2012. Estimation indicates that financial sector development and trade oppeness have positive and significant impact on economic growth in ASEAN 5. |
