| Summary: | Geographic Information System is a computer based system which is used for input, save, compiling, analysis and to activate data who have spatial reference. Tourism itself is a trips taken temporarily which held from one place to another with the intention to not make a living but merely to enjoy the trip of sightseeing to meet the variety of desire. The problem studied in this research is the growing number Android mobile device users as well as the increase in tourist traffic increasing in line with the needs of information, it is necessary to develop a geographic information system that can help the user to record information on an Android mobile device. The exsisting Geographic Information System application currently only provides information about existing facilities and site map of a tourist attraction. The development of Geographic Information System application based on Android further confirms that the scope of the geographic information system are not limited to the workspace desktop-based spatial data processing, but can be developed in mobile.
This development of Geographic Information System application based on Android is using Phonegap framework. The programming language used is JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3. Phonegap is used as a connector API (Application Programming Interface) on Android mobile devices. Besides Phonegap also used the Google Maps API and SQLite. Google Maps API used as a base map of the application in which the Google Maps API used to connect to the server application Google Maps. SQLite itself used as a database of applications due to the size of SQLite is tiny file that suit to the goals of mobile applications.
The results of this research is the development of Geographic Information System applications based on Android, named Tripnotes. Tripnotes can be used as a helper application shall record a trips. The results of Tripnotes can be used on Android mobile devices. Tripnotes an Android-based GIS application developed by the authors can be used for recording data in the form of text, images and coordinates by using GPS (Global Positioning System) on Android devices.
