Summary: | Background:The level of air pollution especially in big cities are very harmful to
the environment and public health. One of contributor toair pollution in major
cities in Indonesia is motor vehicle exhaust gases. Fuel combustion by motor
vehicles is major source of carbonmonoxide. One of the health problems which is
caused by exposure to CO is fatigue. Parking officer at Malioboro Street is group
of people who are exposed to CO everyday from motor vehicle emissions.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate correlation between working period
with carboxyhemoglobin level in the blood, correlation between
carboxyhemoglobin level in the blood with fatigue and correlation between
smoking behavior with carboxyhemoglobin level in the blood of parking officer at
Jalan Malioboro Yogyakarta
Method: This study was observational study with cross-sectional design.
Sampling technique which used was purposive sampling.
Results:Research results showed that there was relationship between working
period with HbCO levels in respondents(p =0.000, r=0.525), there was no
significant correlation between HbCO levels with fatigue (p =0.281, r=-0.147, and
there was significant correlation between smoking behavior of respondents with
HbCO levels(p =0.000, CI1.43 to 11.5, r=0.440).
Conclusion: Research result show that, there was no significant correlation
between HbCO level with fatigue on parking officer at Malioboro Street,
Yogyakarta.
