Summary: | This research purposes to know the activities, role, and those public
communication campaign activities held by Indonesian Child Protection
Commission (KPAI) to protect children in 2011 especially reviewed from Law
No. 23 of 2002. The campaign is a response or reaction due to more intense
violence against children cases occurred in Indonesia. More media reported
violence against children cases. Ironically, most of the violence against children
cases did by close people of the victims. As one of the efforts to handle the
problem, KPAI formulated public communication campaign about how
importance to give protection to children. As a government institution that its duty
is to watch and ensure the implementation of Law No. 23 of 2002
Regarding Child Protection, KPAI next cooperated with independent institution
and another government institution to educated society about children protection
from violence and also about a child rights fulfillment in his/her social life.
The campaign that aims to aware society so they care to protect the
children from various violence, did by informed the society about the A to Z of
violence against children. Information about acts that include to violence against
children, sentence for the perpetrator, negative effect that may happen to a child
that experienced violence, was delivered to all elements of society because KPAI
assumed that all element in society having possibility to do violence against
children.
