Summary: | It has been done the measurement of dominant frequency, bandwidth, quality factor and damping ratio of watermelon has been conducted. It is conducted by recording the tap sound of red and yellow watermelon using the calibrated recorder. The recorded sound was analyzed by Software SpectralPLUS-DT. The result shows that dominant frequency of the tap sound of unripe red, half-ripe red, ripe red, unripe yellow, half-ripe yellow and ripe yellow watermelon is (376 2) Hz, (230 6) Hz , (169 1) Hz, (393 8) Hz, (234 5) Hz dan (164 1) Hz. Their bandwith is (36 1) Hz, (30 2) Hz, (36 1) Hz, (27 1) Hz, (24 2) Hz dan (19 1) Hz. Their quality factor is (10,9 0,4), (7,9 0,3), (7,9 0,3), (15,6 0,5), (10,1 0,5) dan (9,6 0,5). Their damping ratio is (0,047 0,002), (0,060 0,004), (0,066 0,003), (0,033 0,001), (0,054 0,004) dan (0,056 0,003). The research proves that the dominant frequency, bandwidth, quality factor, and damping ratio can be the indicator of watermelon ripeness.
