| description | The aim is to increase the Pharmacist counseling therapy outcome by
maximizing the use of appropriate drugs. The provision of appropriate counseling
and beneficial expected to improve adherence to drug therapy in order to achieve
the desired blood pressure. This study was conducted to determine the effect of
pharmacist counseling on adherence and to determine the relationship between
adherence and treatment outcomes in patients with hypertension disease clinic in
Cilacap General Hospital.
This study was conducted with quasi experimental design. Retrieval of
patient data prospectively conducted during the period December 2013 - January
2014. Patients were randomly divided into 2 groups of different subjects, namely
the group of patients who received counseling from the pharmacist/researcher
(intervention group) and patients without receiving counseling (control group)
followed approximately one month to observe the level of compliance and
therapeutic outcomes (decreased blood pressure ) in hypertensive patients in
hospitals Cilacap.
Data was collected by conducting interviews and questionnaires adherence
MMAS while blood pressure values were taken from medical records. The results
of this study obtained 87 research subjects consisted of 42 (48.27%) controls and
45 (51.72%) intervention group. The t-test is used to show that there are
significant differences between the groups in the category of MMAS control with
compliance scores (3.10) and intervention with adherence score (6.76) with a
significance level of 0.000 (P <0.05). Based on analysis using Chi-square test for
compliance effect on blood pressure reduction in both systolic and diastolic 0.001
0.006 (P <0.05). This study concluded that counseling can improve patient
compliance and therefore reduces systolic blood pressure and diastolic or the
intervention group than the control group. |
