| Summary: | Badminton is one of the most popular sport game in Indonesia after football. It can be observed through the people�s enthusiasm when a badminton match is broadcasted on TV. If the team wins, the athletes will be honored and praised. But if they�re losing, they will become the target of people�s dejection. A few decades ago, Indonesia is the king and the master of this sport in Asia even in the wolrd. But it seems our achievements nowadays are decreasing. In the last few years Indonesia seems to be absent being the champion and holding a trophy in many leagues and internatinional tournaments. We believe this happens because of the quality of new athletes is not as good they used to be. This descending quality of the young smashers can be caused by 2 factors, first is the unconvincing fees, this makes the athles is less motivated than before. The second reason is the lack of training center for the young athletes. The second reason is writer�s main focus in this writing.
In Riau Province, especially in Pekanbaru, there are so many good candidates for badminton athletes and they deserve to be trained properly by professionals. If we look back when Riau is being the host of PON 2012, we can�t even win a single medal in badminton sport. This fact tells us that Riau needs to improve the training facility for the young athletes. This event also gives us another input that Riau is really lack of proper sport facilities. Even some of the new venues are either unqualified or unfinished.
With this design plan of Riau Badminton Center, we hope that this facilities can provide proper training so that Riau�s athletes can compete or even be the champions in both national and international events and tournaments. Another objective is to persuade people to do more sports and admiring their local culture at the same time through the design of this Badminton Center wich uses regionalism context.
