cats. The purpose of this research was not identify ancylostomiasis incidence rate
in Yogyakarta among cats that were well reared in house but they also went
outdoor (semi-feral) and those that were feral.
There were 280 faecal samples exploited in this research. The owner was
given a questionnaire consist of general inspection, sex, age, breed, vaccination
status, history of cat, system maintenance, feed, and frequency of diarrhea. The
Ancylostoma sp. worm eggs were identified by using native and centrifugal
methods then the data collected in the examination were descriptively analyzed.
Based on the results of this research, it was showed that they were 19 of
280 cat samples infected by Ancylostoma sp. Among the cats reared in the house,
there were 7 of 191 cats samples positively infected by Ancylostoma sp., 4 of 62
semi-feral cats were infected by Ancylostoma sp., and 8 of 27 feral cats were
infected by Ancylostoma sp. Based on the result, it was concluded that the
infestation level of Ancylostoma sp. among cats in Yogyakarta was 6,8%
(19/280), with the cats reared indoors of 3,66% (7/191), lower than the semi-feral
cats of 6,45% (4/62) and the highest was found among feral cats of 29,63%
(8/27). |
