Summary: | Background : Hoodia macrantha is plants that are found
in Kalahari South Africa. This plant commonly used by
local residents as appetite suppressor. Recent research
has found a substance called P57 and it is believed
that responsible in suppressing appetite. Nowadays,
there are many companies producing substances to be
marketed without further research. Weight problems have
been a universal problem and consumption of slimming
drugs become a routine for people without knowing
effects. This research will examine the influence of
Hoodia macrantha methanol extract to spatial memory
arrangement of male mice.
Objective : The purpose of this research is to know the
influence of Hoodia macrantha methanol extract to
memory special arrangement of male mice with oral
route.
Methods : Hoodia macrantha plant was 12 months old and
extracted using methanol. The making of the suspension
using a dose of 0, 5, 15, and 50 mg/kgBB/hari/1mL. Mice
were divided into 4 groups according to the dose.
Extract administered once a day for 7 days. 24 hours
after the administration spatial memory was measured
using Morris water maze with 3 trial for 3 days and
sensorymotor observations on the third day. The data
obtained from the observations were analyzed using oneway
ANOVA. If p> 0.05 then the result is significant, p
<0.05, it is not significant.
Results : The results of the comparison between groups.
In trial 1 obtained p = 0.891, p = 0.958 trial 2, trial
3 p = 0.465, and trial 4 (sensorimotor) p = 0.781.
There were no significant results (p> 0.05).
Conclusion : Methanol extract of Hoodia macrantha with
doses of 5, 15, and 50 mg/kgBB/hari/1mL, does not
affect spatial memory of male mice.
