Summary: | The paradigms and the works are likely to change. In recent decades a
paradigm shifted and it was characterized by a phenomenon like a bombardment

The last few years iconic buildings have sprung up that indicated stylish
metaphor. The new iconic tends to want to replace the old icons. Based on this
phenomenon, it needs to conduct a research aiming to verify the concept of
iconicity on iconic architectural in chosen case.
This research used qualitative-rationality paradigm with content analysis
method completed of geisteswissens study. The research departed from the
theoretical framework of the science of semiotics, iconic design theories, the
ideas, and the experts interpretations of architectural iconic. The thought
constructed into a conceptual framework of the research namely similarity,
differentiation, repesentation and analogy becoming parameter to verify cases
research. The cases research were chosen namely Sydney Opera House, Bilbao
Guggenheim Museum and Burj Al Arab. The scope of the research was
architectural iconic works on clump of metaphor. Whereas the focus of the study
was the form concept and the design strategy.
The finding of iconicity on iconic architectural clump of metaphor tended to
have the form of concept i.e., contextual, hiper-dimention, expressionist model
and multiple meaning. Whereas the design strategy used design design inspiration
from natural, historical study, united some iconic sign to becoming metaphor
sign, created building that was different from surrounding building in terms of
form of shape, instill new thinking of paradigm on the design concept
philosophically, decided strategic location for visibility need.
