Summary:The Law No. 40 of 2004 regarding National Social Security System is followed by the implementation of BPJS for all Indonesia citizens. It demands health service industry to be ready providing excellent service for all Indonesia citizens. People demand on excellent health service shall be balanced by numbers of personnel available for health care, and has become special challenge on health service industry. Hospital as part of major health service industry is facing problems as the increasing number of patient�s visits is not complemented by adequate number of professionals and infrastructure. Opportunity to pursue formal education is limited and there is no chance for non-doctor professionals to reach the highest career level at the hospital. This research aimed to understand the significant meaning of career for professionals in health service organization. This research was engaged by using phenomenological approach by involving 10 respondents. Two themes were obtained in this research. The first theme is learning while the second is sharing. The meaning of career for professionals in health service organization is to conduct learning and sharing. They use learning in almost all occasion when in contact with patients. Learning is carried out in the form of informal learning. Professionals do the informal learning mostly from experiences, internet, and case-based study. Sharing is the second finding from this research. The form of sharing is mentoring, discussion, Hospital Community Health Education or PMKRS (Penyuluhan Kesehatan Masyarakat Rumah Sakit), and interactive radio dialogue. Professionals do the sharing to patients and patients� family, colleagues and other professionals. Happiness that comes because of the ability to share and make the patients feel better makes professionals love their profession. Condition of patients who were not getting better becomes their motivation to learn and improve their competencies. Informal learning is mostly used because this model is the easiest one to perform, considering the situation, condition and limited opportunity to pursue formal learning.
