Summary: | Humanitarian approach is one of the instruments used in conflict
resolution. The humanitarian principles become the groundwork in seeing and
managing conflict to consider humanitarianism in saving lives, alleviating
suffering, and maintaining dignity. For the conflict which last long and there is no
propoper settlement efforts for each parties yet, humanitarian approach which is
bridged by a peaceful dialogue can be the best instrument to transform the
conflict into a sustainable peace building effort.
Conflicts that happen in Papua are rooted in 4 causes according to LIPI
(Indonesian Institute of Science), the first one is marginalization and
discrimination perceived by the indigenous Papuan as the result of economic
development, cultural policy, and also mass migration that have happened since
1970s. The second cause is the development failure
