Description
Summary:Background : Barriers to early breastfeeding process, mobilization, recovery process, pain and anxiety among post caesarean women may cause delayed Lactogenesis II. Back massage using lavender essential oil is one of the nursing interventions that may help post caesarean women to increase milk production and to support exclusive breastfeeding for the newborn. Objective : To determine the effect of back massage using lavender essential oils toward milk production among post caesarean section at RSUD Panembahan Senopati Bantul. Methods : The study design was a quasi experiment with post-test-only non-equivalent control group design. The sampling technique was consecutive sampling with sample size 32 respondents in each group (back massage using lavender group, back massage using VCO and the control group). Bivariate analysis using chi square with level significance p <0.05. Multivariate analysis binary logistic regression was used to identify confounding variables on milk production post cesarean section. Stratification analysis was used to determine the modifier effect of breastfeeding frequency and rooming in on back massage intervention. Results : The results showed the differences of milk production between back massage using lavender essential oils group and the control group with OR= 4,84 (95% CI :1,68-13,93). Based on the multivariate analysis, the results showed that parity, rooming in and frequency of breast feeding were the confounding variables on milk production post cesarean section. Frequency of breastfeeding and rooming in have modifier effect on back massage intervention. Conclussion : Back massage using lavender essential oils has affected on milk production after cesarean section.
