| Summary: | Community participation is the right of citizens to get involved in the whole
development phases from planning, implementation to program monitoring. Yet,
in fact the distortion of meaning occurs. The development policies tend to ignore
the community capability as an actor of development. The objectives of the
research are (1) assesing the understanding of local community on the existence
of rural tourism, (2) assesing the factors that influence the participation of local
community in the development of rural tourism, and (3) assesing the tourism
resources management strategy to encourage local participation in the
development of rural tourism in Tabanan, Bali.
