| Summary: | This final paper is aimed to find out how substantial the interest of second grade students toward the compulsory extracurricular of Chinese language at Maria Immaculata Junior High School is. The Chinese language learning at Maria Immaculata Junior High School is given to the second grade students, so that this research conducted towards them. The research method which is use in the final paper is library research, observation, interview and questionnaire. The purpose of Chinese language as one of the compulsory extracurricular at Maria Immaculata Junior High School is that students able to communicate by using Chinese language.
Through the result of questionnaire, the writer finds out that the interest of second grade students toward the extracurricular of Chinese language is less than 50%. The result is seen from students� motivation of following the extracurricular of Chinese language, students� perspective toward the importance of Chinese language, students� excitement sense when following the extracurricular of Chinese language and the interest to learning Chinese language deeper are less than 50%.
